Rational Root Inc. has delivered enterprise-class technology to small and mid-sized organizations since 2017. The practice is led by Kevin Kraliz and operates from Toronto.
The practice
Between the big provider and the lone contractor.
Most organizations of the size we serve are caught between two bad options. The large managed-service providers sell a standardized product and treat anything specific to your business as an exception to be priced. The independent contractor is responsive and knows your environment, but is a single point of failure with no bench and no written standards.
We built the practice to sit between those. Small enough that the person who designs your environment is the person who runs it, and structured enough that what we do is documented, repeatable and transferable to someone else if you ever want it to be.
The three practices — governance, managed services and agentic operations — exist because clients kept arriving with one problem and discovering it was really one of the other two. Rather than referring that work out, we built the capability.
What the work balances
Security, capability, and budget are not at odds.
The pitch we have made since the beginning is that these three are balanced through a transparent partnership rather than traded off against each other.
Technological capability
Microsoft 365, Intune and Autopilot, Entra ID, CrowdStrike, SharePoint and OneDrive, hosting, and the agentic layer above them.

IT planned, priced and explained without surprises. You should never receive an invoice you cannot reconstruct.

The mark
Where the name comes from
A rational root is a solution to a polynomial that can be written as a ratio of two integers — an exact answer, not an approximation. The mark is the cubic whose rational roots are −1, ½ and 2, drawn as its two interior lobes. We chose it because the work we do is the unglamorous business of finding exact answers in systems that mostly get approximate ones.
